Gabbeh in Farsi means natural, primitive. Rugs with this name are woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam about or in villages in southwestern Iran where they live. The simple, linear designs with animals and human figures give them their surprisingly contemporary look. These are usually simple, with few designs or monochrome, making this piece very rare and special for its intricate motifs. A quality Gabbeh is very durable and will last for generations.
Because of the nature of these antique handmade rugs, irregularities are likely to exist and are not considered defects.
We clean and restore selected pieces individually. If you need help visualizing, send us a photo of your space and we'll be glad to help you.
